General Math Expectations
Homework:
Students will most likely have homework every night. Students will have a chance to start their homework in class and may often be able to finish it in class if they work hard and put effort into it. Math homework is essential for student’s math success, therefore, homework completion will count as part of their grade. In order for homework to be counted as complete, it must be neat, have all problems attempted, and have all work shown. We will go over every homework assignment, so any questions students may have will be addressed the following day. I will provide all the help needed for those who are diligently working to complete assignments, however if a student isn’t putting the time or effort into their assignment, they will quickly fall behind, and there will be little I can do to help them.
Tests/Quizzes:
We will have tests and quizzes periodically throughout the year. Students will know in advance when a test is scheduled and will have a test review prior to taking the test. If student’s performance is poor on a quiz or test they may see me to schedule a retake within a week. I will not force any student to retest, therefore it is the student’s responsibility to see me and schedule one if needed. Retests are usually scheduled during lunch.
Extra Help:
Extra help is available in the morning, lunch, and after school. Students are encouraged to seek extra help when needed. I am willing to work with every student needing extra help, however it is the student’s responsibility to seek me and ask for such help.
Behavior:
Students are expected to assist in maintain a classroom environment that is conductive to learning. I will not tolerate any disruptive behavior. Disruptive students will be separated from class and parents will be contacted.
