Food Product Sample, Nutrition Label, & Barcode
Now the fun begins! It's time to develop your product. During the Food Show, you must provide a sample of your product. Before making your sample let's get organized!
Making a Product Sample: Step 1: Write a recipe. Use this form. Step 2: Gather the ingredients (To be done at home) Step 3: Make your product (To be done at home) Nutrition Label: In order to meet the FDA requirements, your food product will need a nutrition label. Go to https://www.recipal.com and create a free account. Using your product's recipe information, create a "new recipe". See Raisa's sample. Barcode: According to MARKO VRBNJAK, the everyday “beep” of the barcode reader at the checkout is something we are all familiar with. The food and beverage industry depends on tracking inventory and distribution, and this is best done through barcodes. Any food product that moves along the supply chain (from warehouse to wholesaler/retailer) needs a barcode to be traceable and managed. With that said, your new food product needs a barcode. Go to https://www.barcodesinc.com/generator/index.php to create a barcode for your product. Use the name of your product or a series of numbers in order to identify your product. See Raisa's sample. |
